The "Support for disabled entrepreneurs" project was launched

A new “Support for disabled entrepreneurs” project has been launched to integrate disabled people and those from vulnerable social groups into society, as well as encourage social entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan. The project will be implemented jointly by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA), the State Employment Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the Agency for Sustainable and Operational Social Security (DOST Agency), “Azersu” Open Joint Stock Company, the Baku Engineering University, “FORIELLA” LLC, and “Organization of Disabled Entrepreneurs” Public Association.

As part of the project, disabled persons interested in entrepreneurial activity will have the opportunity to learn carpet weaving, tailoring, photo and videography, and repair of home and electronic appliances. For this purpose, the project partners will perform vocational training for participants, assist in the development of business plans, and provide consulting services in management and business development. As part of the self-employment program, the State Employment Agency will provide those who have successfully completed the training with the appropriate equipment.

The "Support for disabled entrepreneurs" project was presented to the public on December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event was attended by representatives of relevant government agencies, disabled people, and entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of the SMBDA Board Orkhan Mammadov, the chairman of the Board of the State Employment Agency Mustafa Abbasbayli, the chairman of the Milli Mejlis Committee for Labor and social policy Musa Guliyev, and the chairman of the Board of the “Organization of Disabled Entrepreneurs” Public Association Mirza Mammad Valiyev noted that the project is aimed at integration disabled persons and representatives of vulnerable social groups into society, expanding their business-oriented knowledge and skills, developing social entrepreneurship, supporting new business initiatives, and supporting the access of socially vulnerable groups to the labor market.

Then, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the SMBDA, the State Employment Agency, the Agency for Sustainable and Operational Social Security, “Azersu” OJSC, the Baku Engineering University, “FORIELLA” LLC, and “Organization of Disabled Entrepreneurs” Public Association for cooperation under the "Support for disabled entrepreneurs" project.

At the event, the head of the SMBDA department Elnur Aliyev made a presentation of the project.

As part of the event, letters of gratitude were also presented to a group of entrepreneurs who provided support in the employment of persons belonging to a vulnerable social category, and participants’ questions were answered.
