SMBDA to expand the scope of services provided to entrepreneurs in the regions

On March 4, a final conference on the European Union-funded ‘Accelerating Development of Sustainable Microenterprises in Azerbaijani Regions’ project was held, arranged by the Azerbaijan Microfinance Association (AMFA).

At the event, the Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) Orkhan Mammadov has informed about the support and services provided by the Agency to businesses in the regions and underlined that the scope of support mechanisms will expand. He has noted that micro and small enterprises make up the overwhelming majority of business entities operating in our country, especially in the regions. The successful micro and small business activities in the regions play an important role in ensuring the welfare and employment of the local population. The main Agency’s priorities in this area are ensuring the development of micro and small businesses, especially in the regions, as well as expanding the knowledge and skills of entrepreneurs and their access to financial resources and markets. The Agency provides local support and services to entrepreneurs through SMB houses, SMB development centers, and the SMB Friend network operating in the regions. Measures are being taken to expand the scope of the Agency's support mechanisms in the regions.

 

Orkhan Mammadov also noted that as part of the ‘Accelerating Development of Sustainable Microenterprises in Azerbaijani Regions’ project, the Agency arranged training and financing micro-entrepreneurs in cooperation with SME development centers.
