Production and application of Smart mailboxes has begun in Azerbaijan 16.05.22

Over the next two years, Azerbaijan plans to produce and install more than 500 smart mail terminals - Kargomat. In this regard, in 2021 a document on long-term cooperation was signed between the manufacturer and the customer. The project envisages the development of innovative entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan, the creation of new technological production areas, strengthening the export potential of technological products, as well as the development of the logistics sector. Negotiations are underway to build terminals in Turkey, which in turn will serve to expand cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the field of innovative industrial production.

Kargomat is a terminal with fully automated mailboxes. Through these terminals, parcels can be obtained 24/7 without waiting in line, regardless of the work schedule of delivery points and couriers. Kargomat terminals are equipped with a touch screen, POS terminal, QR code and barcode scanners, video surveillance cameras and reliable electronic locks. The operation of the terminals is integrated into the online services of couriers and works fully automatically, the operators carry out remote control and management of the network. Kargomat has appropriate slots according to the size of the packages.

The working principle of Kargomat is very simple. After ordering the product in the online store, the buyer chooses the nearest Kargomat terminal as a method of delivery. When the package is delivered to the specified Kargomat, the user receives a notification via SMS. The package can be obtained within 3 days by entering the code specified in the notification. At present, delivery to Kargomat is free of charge within the agreement with courier services. Kargomat continues to be placed in markets and trade networks, transport hubs and other areas.

It should be noted that such smart mailboxes have been used for a long time in developed countries. During the pandemic, the demand for non-contact delivery services, especially between the courier and the buyer, increased worldwide. In some foreign countries, more than 70% of deliveries are made through "smart mailboxes".
