Judicial reforms and challenges in this field discussed with state institutions and entrepreneurs 14.07.23

At the meeting with entrepreneurs on the subject "Femida dialogue platform", the chairman of KOBİA touched on the significance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as judicial settlement of business disputes, mediation and arbitration.

Organized by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan, in partnership with the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA), a meeting was held with of entrepreneurs on the topic “Femida dialogue platform".

Attended by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan Mammad Musayev, Chairman of the Board of KOBİA Orkhan Mammadov, Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva, as well as representatives of relevant state bodies and entrepreneurs, the event provided information on judicial law reforms and new challenges, the expectations of the business community in this field, and held discussions on the topic.

Speaking at the event, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of KOBİA, touched upon the fact that the protection of the legal interests of SMBs is one of the Agency's activities, and in this sense, the effectiveness of court proceedings is of particular significance. It was noted that among the appeals that the Agency received there are appeals in court proceedings and the recent decline in the number of such appeals could be considered to be a positive trend. The activities of the mediation institution, which is one of the alternative legal dispute resolution mechanisms currently applied in our country, are considered to be positive. The Agency has allocated separate meeting rooms for mediation in the "Baku SMB House" to support the wider application of this mechanism, which contributes to the resolution of disputes of entrepreneurs without applying to court. It is planned to set up mediation rooms in other SMB houses that will be carried out in the future. The introduction of the arbitration institution in our country can be a positive factor in attracting more foreign investors to Azerbaijan.
