Issues of participation of businessmen in restoration and reconstruction of the territories liberated from the occupation discussed

A business lunch dedicated to our victory in the Patriotic war was arranged by the Turkish-Azerbaijani Businessmen Union with the participation of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA). At the event attended by veterans and representatives of the business community, an exchange of views took place on the participation of businessmen in the restoration and reconstruction of Karabakh and the employment opportunities created there.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of the SMBDA Board Orkhan Mammadov stressed the importance of involving the private sector in the reconstruction of the Karabakh region and the realization of business potential. It was noted that the participation of the private sector in this process can be beneficial in terms of reducing public investment costs and attracting domestic and foreign investment through alternative and diverse financing mechanisms. Herewith, applying an innovative technological approach and effective management practices of the private sector in the restoration and reconstruction of the territories liberated from the occupation will allow improving the efficiency and quality of work and services. According to the Azerbaijani state’s development concept concerning Karabakh, the SMBDA has included investment in the liberated territories and the implementation of business projects there in the range of priority areas of its strategic program for the coming period. Currently, entrepreneurs wishing to build a business in our territories liberated from the occupation submit their business projects to the SMBDA. These projects cover trade, services, construction, industry, agriculture, education, and other areas. Along with a number of benefits for SMBs, activity in the territories liberated from occupation will create conditions for implementing important business projects aimed at realizing the economic potential of the region.
