Business opportunities in the creative industry were discussed

The creative and cultural industries, which combine economy, culture, advanced technology and innovation, are developing dynamically in the world. The creative industry, which includes literature, design, music and theater, architecture, fashion and fine arts, film, video and photography, advertising, etc., is also a business area.

Azerbaijan also has extensive development and business opportunities in this area.


A public discussion on "Challenges and business opportunities in the creative industries" was organized to discuss the development of the creative industry in our country, business support in this area, the organization of creative people and business entities, the expansion of public-private relations in the relevant sector.


The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, the Intellectual Property Agency, the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA), the Public Council under the SMBDA and the Federation of Creative Industries of Azerbaijan and was attended by representatives of the relevant government agencies and entrepreneurs working in this area.


Farhad Garashov, Chairman of the Public Council under SMBDA, said the event was organized to discuss the business potential of the creative industry, listen to the challenges faced by businesses in this field and strengthen public-private partnerships.


The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Karimov said that the creative industry, which is a sector of the economy, is developing rapidly on a global scale and has become one of the priority sectors, and there is great interest in this area. It was noted that the ministry's activities in the development of the creative industry are multifaceted. Work is underway to improve the legislation in this area, together with the Federation of Creative Industries of Azerbaijan to study best practices in this area and the problems of the sector, the creation of sales platforms and other areas.


Joining the event online, Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency Kamran Imanov made a presentation on the Agency's activities in the field of creative industry, noting that the concepts of intellectual property and creativity are closely linked, the share of creative industry and copyright-based industries in GDP has increased.

SMBDA Board Chairman Orkhan Mammadov noted that the creative industry, as one of the fastest growing sectors in the world, generates an average of more than $ 2 trillion annually at the global level and provides 30 million jobs. Emphasizing that there is a great potential for the development of creative industry in Azerbaijan, SMBDA chairman made proposals to form a register of creative entrepreneurs, expand creative tourism, create creative clusters, provide creative individuals with the necessary support to start their own businesses, and increase the sector's export potential.


Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Federation of Creative Industries Vasif Eyvazzadeh noted that it is necessary to develop the creative industry in three main directions. These are areas for improving the legal, institutional and financial mechanisms. At the same time, expanding links between government, non-government and the private sector in the creative industry will help strengthen the economic content of the sector. 


The event discussed modern business challenges of the creative industry, development of public-private partnership in this field, increasing the knowledge and skills of creative people in entrepreneurship, effective sectoral organization, problems and development of the sector, and opinions and proposals were voiced on professional trainings, organization of trainings,  concessions, exhibitions and advertising support.



During the event, representatives of relevant agencies answered questions of business entities.
