Women's participation in economic development is growing

The SHE Congress (Smart. Happy. Elegant) was held on May 18. This year's event, organized by the Women Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan, is dedicated to "The role of women's entrepreneurship in economic development." The event is also supported by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA).

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Board of KOBİA Orkhan Mammadov stressed the importance of using the existing potential of women for economic and social development. It was noted that increasing the role of women in the economy is also among the targets of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. As of April 1, 2022, 21.5% of individual entrepreneurs in our country are women. Women's participation in economic development is growing.

Taking into account the development priorities and national characteristics of the country's economy, KOBİA is taking appropriate measures to promote the development of women's entrepreneurship and further increase the number of women among small and medium entrepreneurs. Thus, the Agency regularly organizes awareness-raising events, trainings, and round tables to inform women about entrepreneurship, innovations in this field, support mechanisms, and study their ideas and suggestions. The Agency implements joint projects with various organizations on the development of women's entrepreneurship. Women can use KOBİA's internal market research, participation in exhibitions, access to trade networks, Startup certification, grants, etc. support and services to start a business and grow their business.
