The startup to represent Azerbaijan in the International Startup Competition has been announced

The startup to represent Azerbaijan in the International Startup Competition organized by the Islamic Development Bank, to be attended by startups from 80 countries has been announced.

The startups, announced on September 10 at the online national selection event for the country, have submitted their projects to the competition jury. The jury consists of members of The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) the official partner of the International Startup Competition in Azerbaijan, the Islamic Development Bank and the Organizing Committee of the Annual Investment Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank.

Upon the Jury's decision, the Mina – Made in Azerbaijan team’s startup W-ball, an electronic device for cleaning clothes without using detergents was announced as the winner of the national round.

The winning startup will represent Azerbaijan at the International Startup Competition to be held on October 29, 2020 in Dubai. If the Dubai competition requires a direct participation, the Islamic Development Bank will cover all the expenses of the national representative. In general, 5 winners will be selected in the International Startup Competition and each of them will be awarded a prize of $ 10,000. Moreover, the Islamic Development Bank can provide financial support for the future development of the winning startups.

The national round of the International Startup Competition for Azerbaijan started on September 1. 15 startups participated in the national selection round for areas such as mobile applications, smart devices, and online services.
