The number of countries and organizations joining the “Joint Declaration on the Baku Climate Coalition for the Green Transition of SMEs”, an initiative put forward by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) with the aim of ensuring the active participation of SMEs in combating climate change, promoting green business initiatives and expanding international cooperation in this field, continues to increase. To date, a total of 10 countries and 27 local and international organizations have joined the Declaration. Detailed information about the Declaration is available on the website www.greensme.org. State bodies, international and local organizations, as well as business entities operating in the field of entrepreneurship and business in any country may join the Declaration.

Also, in 2025, around 10 events were organized to raise awareness of the Declaration among foreign countries, local and international organizations. Thus, in July in Baku, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a presentation on the Declaration was held for representatives of foreign diplomatic corps operating in our country; in August in Geneva, presentations were held for the Swiss-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) and the Joint Chamber of Commerce of Switzerland–Eastern Europe, Central Asia and South Caucasus (JCC). Also, in March of the previous year in New York, within the framework of the 69th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, a panel discussion on “Baku Climate Coalition for the Green Transition of SMEs: Increasing the role of women” was organized; in October in Baku, within the Azerbaijan Halal Business Forum (AZHAB Forum), a panel on “Increasing the role of SMEs in the global green transition: Baku Climate Declaration for the Green Transition of SMEs” was held; in November in Belém, within COP30, a panel discussion on “Baku Climate Coalition for the Green Transition of SMEs: Belém status” and others were organized. At the same time, in June 2025, at the 30th Jubilee International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition (“Caspian Oil and Gas”) held in Baku, the KOBİA stand was dedicated to the transition of SMEs to a green economy and to the promotion of the Declaration.

It should be noted that the “Joint Declaration on the Baku Climate Coalition for the Green Transition of SMEs” is an international initiative put forward by KOBİA within the framework of COP29 held in Baku in 2024. This document proposes, for the first time for SMEs, the creation of a global climate movement. In the countries joining the Declaration, it is envisaged to organize trainings and seminars to increase the knowledge and skills of entrepreneurs in order to facilitate the green transition of SMEs and overcome existing challenges, exchange best practices, as well as establish Green SME Resource Centers.
