At the meeting, information was provided on the support and services provided to entrepreneurs by KOBİA.

The 9th meeting of state institutions of “D-8” member states responsible for SMEs was held, organized by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN). The meeting was organized in an online format, and Azerbaijan was represented by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA). Along with Azerbaijan, representatives of state institutions operating in the SME field from Bangladesh, Egypt, Malaysia, Nigeria, Indonesia, Pakistan and Türkiye participated in the event.

At the meeting, KOBİA representatives noted the growing role of SMEs in economic diversification, employment, innovation and sustainable development. Information was provided on the support and services provided to entrepreneurs by the Agency, including consultancy and training services, promotion of startups and support for access to markets, as well as the SME House model, where “G2B” and “B2B” services are provided to entrepreneurs in a single space. Information was also provided to the participants on the Joint Declaration on the Baku Climate Coalition on the green transition of SMEs, put forward by KOBİA within the framework of COP29.

The development of practical areas of cooperation in the SME field within the framework of “D-8” was discussed at the meeting. At the same time, a draft Action Plan prepared by KOBİA within the framework of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the state SME institutions of “D-8” countries was presented at the meeting. The document envisages exchange of experience on SME policies and programmes among “D-8” countries, a business opportunities bulletin, online trainings, organization of “B2B” meetings, exchanges on incubators and ICT, as well as pilot activities related to green SMEs.
