The 10th anniversary of the “German-Azerbaijani Joint Program for Professional Development of Managers” is celebrated

The meeting of the Steering committee of the “German-Azerbaijani Joint Program for Professional Development of Managers” jointly implemented by the Ministry of Economy and the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy was held to gain international experience and increase knowledge and skills of Azerbaijani entrepreneurs.

Coordinator of the “German-Azerbaijani Joint Program for professional development of Managers in Business Community of Azerbaijan” implemented since 2009 is Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan from Azerbaijani side and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) from Germany.

Delivering speech at the event held on November 28, at Baku Business Center, Niyazi Safarov, Deputy Minister of Economy, Wolfgang Manig, German Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Heinz Hetmayer, Representative of the German Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy and Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of SMBDAspoke on the economic relations between our countries, shared their views on the implementation of program and its benefits for entrepreneurs.

The representatives of SMBDA and GIZ then presented reports on the “German-Azerbaijani Joint Program for the professional development of Managers in the Business Community of Azerbaijan”. It was noted that 422 entrepreneurs and managers have benefited from the program over the past ten years. 44% of program participants are entrepreneurs and managers operating in the service sector, 26% in manufacturing, 23% in trade, and 7% in other areas.Azerbaijani companies that established relationships with German companies under the program have signed more than 350 agreements on cooperation so far.

Managers and entrepreneurs participating in the program underlined the positive impact of the program on their business activities.
