Interest in the "SME Volunteers" Programme continues to increase 24.07.26

In the first half of the current year, 725 young people applied to the Programme.

The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (KOBİA) continues to support the development of volunteer activity in the country and the development of practical knowledge and skills of young people before the beginning of labour activity. For this purpose, interest in the "SME Volunteers" Programme implemented at KOBİA is significant.

In January–June 2026, 725 applications were received by the Agency for joining the Programme. In accordance with the volunteer need of the Agency and the principle of sequence, 66 young people have already been engaged in the volunteer programme at KOBİA. They have mainly been engaged in volunteer activity at the Agency, and also at the Baku, Ganja, Yevlakh and Khachmaz SME Houses. The remaining applications will be evaluated during the year within the framework of the volunteer need of the Agency.

It should be noted that within the framework of the "SME Volunteers" Programme implemented since 2018, young people acquire practical skills and gain initial labour habits through participation in the implementation of real tasks and projects, the organisation of events and the process of providing services to entrepreneurs. During the period of volunteer activity, young people, along with gaining practical experience in various directions, participate in the implementation of projects and events aimed at the development of entrepreneurship and obtain the opportunity to become closely acquainted with business support mechanisms. Until the present time, 909 people have joined the Programme. They are mainly students and graduates of leading higher education institutions such as the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan State University of Economics, Baku State University, Sumgait State University, Mingachevir State University and Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University. The "SME Volunteers" Programme consists of two stages, each lasting 3 months. Certificates are awarded to participants who successfully complete volunteer activity.
