“Friend of SMEs” to start work in Shemakha 10.07.19

July 10, in Shamakhi, the 14th “Friend of Small and Medium Enterprises”, the “Friend of the SMEs” of the Agency for Development of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship of Azerbaijan (SMEA) was launched.

At the event held with participation of representatives of entrepreneurs and state institutions operating in Shemakha, Chairman of the Management Board of SMEA Orkhan Mammadov spoke about development of small and medium enterprises in accordance with the strategic line of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “the State is the Best SMEs Partner”, as well as about the Agency’s activities. He emphasized that the Agency’s “Friend of SMEs” is an important mechanism for supporting small and medium entrepreneurs that has been implemented since September 2018. Friends of SMEs including the one in Shemakha now operate in 14 cities and regions of the country and provide information, advice, legal assistance, coordination with government agencies, training and other services for entrepreneurs in such areas as identifying and implementing SMEs initiatives, creating development opportunities, creation and development of new SMEs, protection of SMEs rights. Noting that Shemakha is one of the agricultural and tourist regions of the country and has great potential for development of small and medium enterprises, Orkhan Mammadov noted the role of SMEs in implementing this economic potential. Inviting entrepreneurs from Shemakh and neighboring regions to cooperate closely with the “Friend of SMEs”, the SMEDA head said that “Friends of SMEs” will function in other cities and regions of the country.

The head of the executive authority of the Shemakha region Tair Mamedov emphasized development of the region as a result of the successful socio-economic policy of the head of state and noted that favorable opportunities were created for further expansion of business activities in the regions. It was noted that the first “Friend of SMEs” which was launched in Shemakha for the Mountainous-Shirvan economic region will be useful for existing and new entrepreneurs.

A presentation of the concept “Friend of the SME” and Q&A session for entrepreneurs was held later.

The participants of the event also got acquainted with the office of “Friend of SMEs” in Heydar Aliyev Center in Shemakha region. The office of “Friend of the SMEs” provides necessary conditions for the provision of services to entrepreneurs. SMEs volunteers also work there.
