The Azerbaijan Investment and Culture Summit, arranged by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) and the Youth Forum of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (ICYF) with the support of the ministries of Economy and Culture, continues working.

 

On October 28, as part of the summit, panel discussions were arranged on the topics “The main socio-economic challenges of the region: Prospective from Nizami Ganjavi”, “Cultural aspects in investment decision-making”, “Investing in startup projects”, “The role of technological investments in achieving sustainable development”.

 

As known, 2021 has been declared the “Year of Nizami Ganjavi” in our country. As part of the summit, a special panel session was arranged in connection with the 880th anniversary of an outstanding representative of world literature, genius Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi. At the panel session “The main socio-economic challenges of the region: Prospective from Nizami Ganjavi”, held in a hybrid format jointly with the International Center of Nizami Ganjavi, information was provided on the contribution of Nizami's oeuvre to world literature and culture, the reflection of trade and cultural relations in his works, the consonance of the poet's views with the modern market economy, and the impact of cultural ties on attracting investment. First deputy minister of culture Elnur Aliyev, professors at the Kashmir University Nasim Ahmad Shah and Ghulam Nabi Khaki, and secretary-general of the Research Centre For Islamic History, Art, and Culture (IRCICA) Mahmut Erol Kilich shared their views on the topic.

 

At the panel session “Cultural aspects in investment decision-making”, an exchange of views took place on various global processes, the challenges the culture faced against the background of digitalization and the 4th industrial revolution, a new look at culture in the age of the technological revolution, the role of youth in sustainable development, protection of cultural values, and support of creative youth. First deputy minister of culture Elnur Aliyev, director of the Azerbaijan International Development Agency Elmaddin Mehdiyev, project manager of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Alina Ravzutdinova, and director-general for human resources of Turkish Airlines Abdulkerim Chay spoke on the topic.

 

At the panel session “Investing in startup projects”, information was provided on funding startups, cooperation of the banking sector with incubation centers, lending to micro, small, and medium businesses being the driving force of the economy, as well as the experience of banks in this area. Representatives of “Pasha Bank”, the International Bank of Azerbaijan, “Kapital Bank” supporting the summit, as well as “Alkan Consulting” and Turkish “Halkbank” and “Ziraat Katilim Bank”, shared their views on the topic.

 

At the panel session “The role of technological investments in achieving sustainable development”, vice president of “BP Azerbaijan” Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, yead of the UN Development Program accelerator office in Azerbaijan Nargiz Guliyeva, chairperson of the Turkish-Azerbaijan Business Council (DEIK) Selchuk Akat, chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Businessmen Association Jemal Yangin, and chief executive officer of the Malaysian “Perdana Dialogue” Foundation Rafi Yusuf, who joined the event online, spoke about the importance of technological investments, their impact on the environment and climate change, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, human capital, innovative development, the use of modern technological tools, and cybersecurity and answered the participants’ questions.

 

On the last day of the Azerbaijan Investment and Culture Summit – October 29, the participants will visit the cities of Shusha and Fuzuli and take part in cultural events in Ganja, dedicated to the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi.
