Balakhani is becoming a new tourist destination 03.07.20

The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA), the State Tourism Agency and Baku Landscaping Service LLC will work together to identify Balakhani settlement as a new tourist route and turn it into a regulatory space.

On July 3, Chairman of the Board of SMBDA Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Fuad Nagiyev and Director of "Baku Landscaping Service" LLC Binnat Ali Gasimov got acquainted with the landscaping work carried out in Balakhani, tourism opportunities of the settlement and discussions on cooperation measures.

Within the framework of this cooperation, all three organizations will unite their efforts to turn Balakhani into a new tourist destination, promote tourism-oriented entrepreneurship and create new tourism facilities, and further improve the settlement. Thus, the State Tourism Agency will support the promotion of Balakhani as a new tourist destination and its inclusion in the tourist route. SMBDA will encourage the establishment of new businesses in Balakhani in the field of tourism, especially in the fields of crafts, services and trade, and support the implementation of business initiatives in this area. Baku Landscaping Service LLC will further expand landscaping activities in Balakhani settlement.

At the same time, the joint cooperation will contribute to the promotion of tourism-oriented entrepreneurship among the residents of Balakhani, employment in the area, as well as the promotion and further improvement of the historical monuments of the settlement.

It should be noted that Balakhani is rich in historical and cultural monuments. There are tourism-oriented enterprises, especially handicrafts, carpet weaving, pottery, production of national costumes, creation of small catering facilities, hostels in the service sector, trade souvenirs, ceramic dishes, carpets, musical instruments, sale of sweets, etc. There are opportunities to promote these areas and thus, in Balakhani, the activities of about 100 small facilities can be organized respectively.

It is also proposed to prepare a concept paper for the effective and systematic organization of activities to transform Balakhani into a new tourist destination.
