Azerbaijani startups are invited to participate in the International Startup Competition 01.09.20

Azerbaijani startups can also attend the International Startup Competition organized annually by the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB Group) on the eve of the Annual Investment Meeting.

The Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) is the official partner of the national round of the International Startup Competition in Azerbaijan.

SMBDA launches the national round of the International Startup Competition in Azerbaijan today. Startups can compete in the following categories: social development, better use of innovations, climate and environmental impact, privacy and data protection, and development of a startup.

Requirements for participation in the competition:

• The number of employees and team members shall be up to 20;

• Compliance with relevant categories;

• Startups with a minimal prototype of a startup or a working model of an idea / project (software, application, web service), existing users;

• Preference will be given to competitors who participated in other national and international competitions.

Local startups wishing to participate in the national round shall register by September 7, 2020, using the following link:

The winner of the national round will be announced online on September 10, 2020 by the Jury consisting of members of SMBDA, the Islamic Development Bank and the Organizing Committee of the Annual Investment Meeting. The winning startup will represent Azerbaijan at the International Startup Competition to be held on October 29, 2020 in Dubai. If the Dubai competition requires a direct participation, the Islamic Development Bank will cover all the expenses of the national representative. A total of five winners will be selected in the International Startup Competition and each of them will be awarded a prize of $ 10,000.

In general, startups from 80 countries globally are expected to participate in the International Startup Competition.
